Wednesday, September 11th
Through the looking glass : a one day interactive art installation

On September 11th, 2024 residents will be invited to leave remembrance notes and messages both online and in person.

Gold Star Families Remembrance Day September 30th

Register in advance via email to receive your Golden Luminary kit and Gold Star Banner in time for Gold Star Remembrance Day, to acknowledge the loss of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Kits are limited to the first 50 families who email to Brooklyn911memorial@gmail.com  

Sunday, September 22nd @2pm
National Homicide Victims Remembrance Day Event

Join us at Lefferts House, Prospect Park together with the Melquain Jatelle Anderson Foundation, for an afternoon of Remembrance and Healing. Led by Xenia and Michelle Anderson, Families and Children will participate in emotionally grounded techniques to cope with grief and loss.  REGISTRATION PENDING

the art of Healing : a weekend September Series 

During the month of September, a weekend series will feature ways to address stress and PTSD.  You do not need to be a 9/11 Victim or Survivor of the attacks.  This series will include in person introduction to bubble making, Tai Chi, Sound baths, Yogo, Meditations links and APPS that support long term practices.

October 2024
Breast Cancer  : Awareness & Survivorship

In partnership with a local hospital, participants will receive recommendations on ways to deal with life long journey of coping and managing post treatment side effects.

Sunday, November 3rd 
Military Mile : a tribute to Brooklyn Military service members 

In recognition of Veterans Day,  20 Reservists, Active Duty & Veteran Service members will be acknowledged from 60th Street to 39th Street on 4th Avenue, alongside the NYC Marathon. We will begin accepting Boroughwide nominations, volunteer registration and sponsorship opportunities shortly. 

Saturday, November 9th 
Brooklyn Military Families & Veterans Day Parade:

Jointly sponsored by NYC Council member Alexa Aviles and the Sunset Park BID, Military families, First Responders, Active duty, Reservists and Veteran service members will be invited to march in honor of their service and support.  We will begin accepting Boroughwide registration, Volunteer and sponsorship opportunities shortly.

Military Families, Service Member and Veterans Resource Fair: 

Led by the Office of Congressmember Dan Goldman, local government officials will host resource fair for Reservists, Active Duty, Veteran and Retired Service members and their families.
